FOREIGN VISITS
October 17, 1957 was a unique and memorable day belonging to the history of Ismailis that Masnad Nashini of their beloved 49th Imam His Highness Shah Karim Al-Hussayni was being celebrated at Dar-es-Salaam, East Africa. Accordingly H.H. Prince Aga Khan Band Kharadar got an invitation from the Supreme Council for Tanganyika (now Tanzania) offering the Band to participate in the Masnad Nashini Ceremony. I being a Vice Captain of the Band was fortunate enough to participate in the historical trip of the Band to Africa. As per scheduled programme we completed all formalities in the short notice of ten days and all 25 members under the leadership of Late Captain Rai Rajabali Ghulam Hussain sailed for Bombay per s/s "Sabarmati" on 23rd september and reached Mombassa on 5th October. Count Lutafi Maher Ali, the then President of Ismailia Association for Africa had come to recieve us. The ship enchored at Mombassa port for ten hours. That day after lunch, a grand procession of volunteers, scouts, girl guides and blue birds, led by our Band, marched through the main roads 3 miles upto Aga Khan Club, and were heartily cheered and applauded by Europeans, Asians and locals.

Our beloved Imam-e-Zaman His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan had made glorious visit to London from 1st September to 7th September 1979. The UK Council sent an invitation in August, 1979 to H.H. Prince Aga Khan Band, Kharadar Karachi through National Council to visit London for musical performance. The Ismaili Scout Association was made responsible to select best members for London trip. Twenty-six members were picked up among the existing bands of Karachi of which more than fifty percent belonged to Kharadhar Band. It was agreed that the uniform and instruments of Kharadar Band would be used and Drum Major Alijah Noorali J. Alladina would lead the touring Band. <<back
